You Are Not Your Past!

I firmly believe this. You can grow and become a new and better person. It takes effort though. Things don’t get better by chance. Things get better by change.

When we focus on something we literally give our energy to it. What is life? It’s energy. When we spend our energy focusing on our painful past then we are wasting our life energy on something that cannot be changed. When we focus on something, we give it more energy and more of our life.

Our life is the most valuable thing we have. Do you want to give it to the past? Why not turn your focus towards positive things you can do today?

Gratitude Will Change Your Attitude

Are you constantly feeling down in the dumps and can’t seem to pull out of it? You work all the time, but it feels hard when it comes time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Do you stop and look at the world around you in this fast-paced world, or are you running too much to see the beauty?

I know I get too busy to look around. That’s probably not a good thing to admit as a certified NLP Life Coach, but it’s true. I can have fifteen certifications, but I can’t lie to you guys. With two kids, a husband, a church family, and a business, I rarely get time to stop and look around. It’s easy to become cynical and just all around bummed out. What can we do? Well, I have a very simple answer. It’s so simple most of you won’t even do it.

You see when things are simple to do, they are also simple to forget. They are simply easy to put off until later. Later never comes, and then the simple becomes forgotten entirely.

Gratitude has been scientifically proven to change your attitude by changing your biochemistry, heart rate, and overall mental health. Every religion on this Earth, past and present, has given high priority to gratitude, and yet we don’t do it. Why? It’s too simple.

A 2018 Greater Good Science Center study found that a regular practice of gratitude increases happiness and overall satisfaction with life. It helps you sleep better at night and have less fatigue during the day. Gratitude has been shown to reduce pain, regulate stress and anxiety, increase energy and focus, and increase our productivity in the workplace. A UCLA study says that regularly expressing gratitude changes the brain’s molecular structure. It means we can literally train our brains to be more grateful over time, increase our brain function, and improve our overall mental health.

So enough sciency stuff Synova!!! What do we do?

Ok. It’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty. Set a notebook by your bed, and I want you to write down ten things you are grateful for every night before bed. Now don’t scribble down the same ten nonsense things every night. Take time to really feel the gratitude well up in your chest for each item listed before moving on to the next one. Thank God for each one and drift off into dreamland peacefully. Then repeat the process every morning to start your day. You don’t have to spend hours. It only takes minutes to set your day up right.

Love you all – Synova

Gratitude Through The Storm: A Guided Gratitude Journal

Like a lighthouse in the storm, gratitude will guide you through to calm waters. This guided gratitude journal is a very personal project of mine and I can’t wait to share it with you all. My life hasn’t seen the sun in almost two years, but when I remember to practice gratitude my ship sails smoothly through the day. When I forget the waves crash over me and I find myself flailing about amid troubled waters. Once I catch my breath I’m again drawn back to the light of gratitude and the inner peace it brings.

This journal is more than just another list of self help topics, or scientific facts. It’s a tried and true journey that I am on. I do believe I can see the clouds parting and the sun shining through . It’s time to share with you all.

Whispers of the Mind: How Thoughts Become Things

Humans have a hidden superpower. With it we can both create and destroy. In most people it is raw, unfiltered and troublesome. But, if we could train it and hone it to perfection, it is powerful enough to change the world.

There’s a wise old saying that says, “for as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” What does that mean, exactly? It means you become what you think about regularly. Your consistent thoughts become your actions, and your actions change the reality around you. I know this sounds like a bunch of hoodoos, but I promise you there’s science behind it.

What if we trained our minds to create instead of to destroy? We could change the world with one mind at a time.

Make sure you are on my mailing list so you will be notified when these new books are released.

Elephants & Mindsets

African elephants are the largest land mammals. They can grow to be 13 ft tall from toe to shoulder. Some species of elephants can weigh up to $13,000. Their trunk alone has 150,000 separate muscles, which gives them enough power to uproot full-grown trees. Why do we see these magnificent creatures held back by tiny ropes at the circus?

As an infant, these elephants have been conditioned to believe they cannot break their chains. When they were small, they were held back by a giant log chain that was too much for them to break. After a while, the poor creature stopped trying to break free. Although it is more than physically capable, it has been conditioned with this limited mindset.

If an elephant is spurred into a rage, it can break the chains that bind it and tear down the entire circus. I use this analogy for you, my readers. The human mind is infinitely capable, yet limited mindsets hold us back. Sometimes these mindsets aren’t even our own. They are limiting beliefs passed down for generations or by our society. What limited mindset is holding you back? Are you suffering from learned helplessness?

When I first started writing, I believed it took years to write a book, and now I realize I could write a book in 30 days. When I realized I could publish my next book in 30 days, I listened to one of my coaches talk about writing a book on a weekend. Then when I just started believing that that was possible, another coach of mine, Dr. Joe Vitale, wrote his 81st book by transcribing a 2-hour seminar.

The three keys to succeeding in this course are planning, redefining, in mindset. I believe mindset is the most important. I will leave you with a quote by the great Henry Ford.

“If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you are right.”

Laughter Really Is The Best Medicine [Norman Cousins]

Norman Cousins was an Editor, Author, and Philosopher who found his young life plagued with illness. In 1964, he was diagnosed with a deadly connective tissue disease and ankylosing spondylitis that left him paralyzed and in excruciating pain. The doctors gave him no hope, but he had been studying how emotions affect the body’s biochemistry and decided to try something radical. He checked out of the hospital where death hung in the air like the black fog from a diesel engine.

Instead, he checked himself into a quiet hotel room where his doctor would visit him in a peaceful atmosphere. He was in extreme pain and sleep was rare. Then the nurses would routinely wake him and disturb him even more. Here in this peaceful place, he could sleep. Pain pills wouldn’t touch his pain. At one point they were giving him 36 Aspirin a day!

In desperation, Cousins started laughter therapy and found that if he could really laugh for ten minutes he would have two hours of pain free, peaceful sleep. This encouraged him to continue even though the act of laughing was terribly painful. With this routine and keeping himself in a restful environment Norman began to improve. The doctor added massive doses of vitamin C to his health regimen and Norman walked out of that hotel. This was impossible because his spine was supposed to fuse together and he was going to have to choose between sitting or laying flat on his back for the rest of his life. Instead, he carved his own path and now laughter therapy is a well known, scientifically documented reality.
